The Railroad Commission Of Texas: Commissioners

The State of Texas currently has three positions for Texas Railroad Commissioner. Each individual is elected to a six-year term on a rotating schedule, with one position coming up for election every two years. In the event of an unexpected vacancy on the Railroad Commission, the Governor may appoint a new member. This person will serve in this position until the next general election, where the electorate then has the ability to elect a representative of its choice and the appointee has the opportunity to be elected and serve for the remainder of the term. Texas Railroad Commissioners serve the state in a variety of ways, from providing educational programs for kids to issuing and enforcing permits for the state of Texas.
