What Is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a condition that affects the eyes. It most often occurs in senior citizens, but it has been diagnosed in younger patients. Some of the symptoms of glaucoma include: severe pain and redness in the eye, swelling, nausea and blurred vision. Because this condition can increase the risk of blindness, it is important that anyone who is exhibiting those symptoms go see a physician immediately. There are many treatment options for those who have glaucoma, but they depend greatly on the severity of the condition. The eye doctor may prescribe a medication for those who have mild glaucoma. People who have more serious glaucoma may require surgery. More info: Glaucoma Chicago
